PixelCore ("we," "us," or "the app") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the data of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information within the app, which is designed as a premium hardware utility and telemetry tool specifically optimized for the Google Pixel ecosystem.
1. Data Collection and Usage
PixelCore is a telemetry-focused application that monitors system performance in real-time to provide users with deep hardware insights.
Hardware Telemetry: The app reads system files (such as
/proc/statand/sys/) to monitor CPU clock speeds, core utilization, GPU load, and live thermal data from various sensors (CPU, Battery, GPU, and Modem).Battery Intelligence: We calculate the "State of Health" (SoH) by comparing current full capacity against the original design capacity.
Live Updates: During charging, the app utilizes Android 16 APIs to display live wattage and battery percentages via a Status Bar Chip and a dynamic notification progress bar.
2. Data Storage and Security
We prioritize a "local-first" data approach:
No Server Transfers: PixelCore does not upload your hardware, thermal, or battery data to any external servers. All telemetry remains on your device.
Local Preferences: We only store your UI preferences (such as Light/Dark theme selection) locally on the device using Jetpack DataStore.
No Personal Data Access: The app does not access personal identifiers, contacts, photos, or location data.
3. Required Permissions & Foreground Services
To provide its core safety and monitoring features, PixelCore requires specific permissions:
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE: This permission is utilized to maintain a persistent connection with device sensors for real-time telemetry and the "Live Charging Suite." This service ensures that critical safety features, such as the battery alarm and Android 16 Status Bar Chips, remain active and accurate without being interrupted by the system's background restrictions.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: To protect battery longevity, the app allows users to set precise notification triggers. This permission is used to trigger an audible alarm the exact moment the battery reaches 100% (or a user-defined threshold), ensuring the user can unplug the device to preserve long-term battery health.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To display the Android 16 Status Bar Chip and real-time charging progress.
4. Bug Reporting and Telemetry
When a user chooses to "Report a Bug," the app pre-fills an email with technical diagnostic information to assist in troubleshooting. This includes:
Device Manufacturer and Model (e.g., Google Pixel 8 Pro).
Android OS Version and API Level.
App Build Version.
System Region and Locale.
A timestamp of the report.
Note: This information is only shared if the user explicitly sends the email to haptixforpixel@gmail.com. No automatic background reporting occurs.
5. Third-Party Services
PixelCore does not integrate with third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We utilize your device's default email client only when you initiate a bug report.
6. User Rights and Controls
Users maintain full control over their data:
You may change or reset your theme preferences within the app settings.
You can stop all background tracking and safety alarms at any time by disabling the charging tracker service within the app.
All locally stored preferences are deleted if the app is uninstalled.
